About You / What You’ll Need + Position Specifics

General Purpose and Scope: The Graphic Designer! This person will be responsible for designing and delivering graphic designs across several mediums to our clients. This person will work collaboratively with our design, creative, and account team to determine the design specs and, generally, design multiple concepts to be used in a single or wide array of mediums.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients or the art director to determine the scope of a project
  • Advise clients on strategies to reach a particular audience
  • Determine the message the design should portray
  • Develop graphics and visual or audio images for product illustrations, logos, and websites
  • Create designs either by hand or using computer software packages
  • Select colors, images, text style, and layout
  • Present the design to clients or the art director
  • Incorporate changes recommended by the clients into the final design
  • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them

Scope of Decision-Making Authority: Individual will work closely with the agency design team to collaborate on the design and development of creative projects running through Highland Group. The degree of empowerment for day-to-day decisions will increase as the employee gains familiarity with projects, clients, and teams. For assigned clients, individuals own primary client contact and will drive projects under the supervision of the Digital Director. Individuals will need to understand and elevate issues as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree or a minimum of two years of commercial design/work experience.

Work Experience:

  • Comfortable working under limited supervision, with sometimes tight and changing deadlines
  • Agency or service-oriented business experience a plus

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Comfortable working in a Mac environment
  • Have a working knowledge of commercial design processes
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop and InDesign
  • Skilled at problem-solving through graphic design
  • Team collaboration and comfortable working with others
  • Works at developing strong relationships and communication skills

  • Strong graphic design skills, ability to work/think through projects with ease and efficiency
  • Ability to be responsive and able to collaborate on client-related web development solutions
